ABSTRACT:
A heat pump installation for substantial heat extraction from an internal combustion engine has a heat pump for extracting waste heat such as from air drawn over the engine and a generator enclosed in a common housing and also extracts heat from the engine exhaust gases either by direct heat exchange in a tank or by means of a specially adapted evaporator coil exposed to the exhaust gas stream. The heat pump installation includes a compressor and condenser which are positioned in a liquid bath.
