ABSTRACT:
A heat exchanger with two bundles of tubes is employed to cool the hot gases deriving from the synthesis of ammonia. The two bundles communicate directly at the incoming-gas end and through a reversing chamber positioned between them at the outgoing-gas end. The first bundle is surrounded by several chambers with separate media flowing through them. The second bundle is provided with still another separate medium flowthrough.
