ABSTRACT:
An evaporator1includes a refrigerant inlet header section5and a refrigerant outlet header section6which are arranged in the front-rear direction, a refrigerant circulation passage for establishing fluid communication between the header sections5and6. First ends of the header sections5and6are closed with a first cap19and the second ends thereof are closed with a second cap18. A refrigerant inlet37and a refrigerant outlet are formed in the first cap19. A pipe joint member21, having a refrigerant inflow port45communicating with the refrigerant inlet37and a refrigerant outflow port46communicating with the refrigerant outlet38, is joined to the first cap19. Mating concave portions19aand19bare formed on the first cap19. Mating convex portions21aand21bwhich project toward the first cap19and which are to be fitted into the mating concave portions19aand19b, respectively, are formed on the pipe joint member21. The second cap18has no mating concave portions into which the mating convex portions21a,21bare fitted. The evaporator (1) to which the heat exchanger of the present invention is applied can prevent erroneous attachment of the pipe joint member during manufacture thereof.
