The spindle carries two spaced detents engageable with two members of the frame spaced along the spindle to lock the frame against rotation around the spindle, the head rest being released for adjustment by bodily moving the rest along the spindle against the action of a return spring to release the detents and then turning the rest to the required attitude and releasing it to allow the spring to return it along the spindle to re-engage the detents.
