ABSTRACT:
A head loading mechanism for a flexible disc drive unit, for bringing and withdrawing a magnetic read/write head in contact with and from a flexible magnetic disc comprises a disc loading member rotatably supported in the disc drive unit, for positioning the magnetic disc at a fixed position wherein the magnetic disc is rotatably held; head loading member rotatably supported in the disc drive unit, for carrying the magnetic head; a head load bail member rotatably supported in the disc drive unit, for positioning the magnetic head over the magnetic disc with a gap (g.sub.1) in a state where the bail member makes contact with the hed loading member; and an adjusting mechanism for adjusting a rotational position of the bail member with respect to the head loading member so that the gap (g.sub.1) is varied.
