ABSTRACT:
A handling mechanism for making a gripping device perform a horizontal transport movement with connecting vertical raising and lowering movements at either end. A parallelogram linkage arrangement carrying the gripping device has one arm pivotally joined to the crank pin of a reciprocally pivoting crank. The upper end of the arm will follow a purely vertical path of movement by means of guides. Two cam follower rollers rotatable about the axis of the crank pin and abutting stationary cam curves impart a circle arc movement to the crank pin with connecting vertical movement segments at both ends, the crank being made in two pivoting parts so that its radius is variable. A device included in the handling mechanism selectively alters the length of stroke of the arm.
