ABSTRACT:
An incandescent lamp having a hard glass envelope, a tungsten filament, and an inert gas fill containing a halogen or halide additive. The hard glass envelope contains substantially no alkali or carbon monoxide and is preferably devoid of these materials. The hard glass contains less than 0.03% by weight of water and less than 0.1 .mu. liter/g carbon dioxide dissolved therein.
