ABSTRACT:
A dye composition for keratinic fibers comprises an aqueous alcoholic solution of an indoaniline selected from (a) one having the formula ##STR1## wherein Z is selected from amino, acetylamino and hydroxy; R.sub.5, R.sub.6 and R.sub.7 each independently are selected from hydrogen, lower alkyl having 1-6 carbon atoms and lower alkoxy having 1-6 carbon atoms; R.sub.8 is selected from hydrogen, lower alkyl having 1-6 carbon atoms and together with R.sub.5 and the nitrogen atom to which R.sub.8 is attached form dihydro-paroxazine; and R.sub.9 is selected from hydrogen, lower alkyl having 1-6 carbon atoms and together with R.sub.6 and the nitrogen atom to which R.sub.9 is attached form dihydro-paroxazine, with the proviso that at least two of R.sub.5, R.sub.6, R.sub.7, R.sub.8 and R.sub.9 are other than hydrogen when Z is NH.sub.2 and that only one of R.sub.8 and R.sub.9 form dihydro-paroxazine; (b) an acid salt of said indoaniline in (a); and (c) a double chloride of zinc and said indoaniline in (a). When the indoaniline is employed in combination with an aqueous alcoholic solution, a hair dyeing lotion which also sets the hair is provided by the inclusion therein of a cosmetic film forming resin.
