A ceramic consisting essentially of:about 51% to about 68% by weight ZrO2;about 20% to about 40% by weight Al2O3;about 9% to about 12% by weight CeO2;about 0.05% to about 0.2% by weight SiO2;about 0.01% to about 0.1% by weight MgO;about 0.1% to about 0.6% by weight MnO; andabout 0.01% to about 0.8% by weight CaO.
