ABSTRACT:
A graded refractive index (GRIN) single lens system comprises at least one surface formed spherically and has refractive index n expressed by the formula shown below wherein the higher order coefficients h.sub.8 and h.sub.10 of the refractive index distribution satisfy the following conditions (1) and (2) so that N.A. has the value of no less than 0.5 and various aberrations are well-corrected.
