ABSTRACT:
A fire-retardant gel electrolyte comprising a gelled solution composed of a non-aqueous solvent and a salt of an electrolyte dissolved in the non-aqueous solvent, the gel electrolyte having an ionic conductivity of 1 mS/cm at a temperature of 25.degree. C. In addition, in accordance with the present invention, there is also provided a cell comprising a fire-retardant gel electrolyte having an ionic conductivity of 1 mS/cm or greater at a temperature of 25.degree. C., and positive and negative electrodes.
