ABSTRACT:
A gear wheel is provided with a split damping ring on each side having a close fit with the inside of the rim of the gear wheel. The rings are anchored at points remote from their split ends to the web of the wheel. A tapered bolt and nut assembly cooperate to wedge the ringsagainst the gear rim. Elastomer type ring washers associated with such bolt and nut assembly are pinched tightly thereby to the gear rim.
