ABSTRACT:
Provided are compositions and methods to treat liver cancer and related disorders in human or veterinary individuals. Primary liver cancers, including those metastatic to other parts of the body, as well as cancers metastatic to the liver cancer, can be treated and/or prevented with the compositions and methods of the present invention. The methods comprise the administration of pharmaceutically acceptable gallium compositions, including gallium maltolate. Routes of administration include, without limitation, oral, intravenous, intratumoral, and into blood vessels as part of chemoembolization therapy. Some of the compositions and methods disclosed herein are applicable to cancers other than liver cancer.
