ABSTRACT:
A fuel supply system10for an internal combustion engine includes a housing12defining a chamber14and provided with an inlet opening16upstream of the chamber14and an outlet opening18downstream of the chamber14. The fuel injector20sprays a fuel mist into the chamber14. A heater22heats air flowing into the chamber14via inlet16to a temperature of between 110° C.-260° C. Pressure within the chamber14is also negative relative to ambient pressure. The fuel sprayed into the chamber14via the fuel injector20is thermally cracked so that a mixture of thermally cracked fuel and heated air flows out from the outlet18for combustion in combustion chambers of the engine.
