ABSTRACT:
An internal combustion engine comprising a vertically extending intake duct which is mounted on the collecting portion of the intake manifold. A throttle valve and a fuel injector are arranged in the intake duct. The fuel nozzle of the fuel injector is directed slightly downwards and located at a position spaced below the throttle shaft of throttle valve by a distance which is less than one half of the diameter of the intake passage formed in the intake duct.
