ABSTRACT:
The fuel injection system for a multi-cylinder reciprocating internal combustion engine employs an accumulator in the feed line between a feed pump and each of two hydraulic pumps of hydraulic pump pairs. In addition, a high-pressure accumulator is connected on the delivery side in common to all of the hydraulic pumps to eliminate pressure variations. The pumps of each pair of hydraulic pumps are driven in a 45.degree. out-of-phase relation to each other while the adjacent pairs of hydraulic pumps are driven in co-phase relation.
