ABSTRACT:
A fuel injection pump for an internal combustion engine comprises a cam disc having a camming surface which, when the cam disc is rotatively driven, causes a plunger to be rotated and reciprocated to allow drawn fuel to be pressurized and distributed, to thereby deliver the pressurized fuel to the engine. The camming surface is configured such that the plunger is moved substantially at a constant velocity for the engine idling, and after the termination of the constant velocity region the velocity of movement of the plunger is increased to a highest value higher than that for the engine idling, and before entering the constant velocity region the plunger is moved at a velocity higher than the above constant velocity but lower than the highest value.
