ABSTRACT:
A fuel cell which essentially has an electrolyte membrane and fuel and oxidation electrodes in a confronting state to each other holding the electrolyte membrane between them and, more particularly, to provide an advantageous fuel cell having the fuel and oxidation electrodes each of which has a gas diffusion layer formed from porous metallic material; a catalyst layer contacting with the electrolyte membrane; a corrosion resistant layer oriented intermediate the gas diffusion layer and the catalyst layer such that strong acidic constituent contained in the electrolyte membrane does not corrode the gas diffusion layer.
