ABSTRACT:
A system for steering rear wheels of a motor vehicle has a detector for detecting cornering force exerted on front wheels and a speed detector for detecting steering speed of a steering wheel of the vehicle. A desired rear-wheel steering angle is calculated based on the cornering force and vehicle speed, a desired rear-wheel steering speed is obtained from the steering speed and the vehicle speed. In response to the desired rear-wheel steering angle and to the desired rear-wheel steering speed, rear wheels are steered.
