ABSTRACT:
A foot-operated parking brake device for vehicles is provided with a shock absorbing member60on which a predetermined portion, e.g., an engaging claw32d, except for a pole abutting portion32eof a pole32is brought into abutting when a pedal arm20is moved from an original position to an abutting position where the engaging claw32dof the pole32is brought into abutting on ratchet teeth31a. An abutting surface61of the shock absorbing member60is formed to bring a lock mechanism30into the first state at least before the pedal arm20reaches the abutting position and to form a space between the pole abutting portion32eand a release lever abutting portion33auntil the lock mechanism30is brought into the first state. Thus, immediately before the pole abutting portion32eand the release lever abutting portion33aare brought into collision by being pivoted by the urging force of a spring34, the pivot movement of the pole is restrained, so that the pole abutting portion32eand the release lever abutting portion33acan be prevented from generating a collision noise.
