ABSTRACT:
The present invention provides a system and method for conducting a coal combustion process, including methods of improving the opacity of the off-gases or inhibiting ash fouling. The method includes a step of combusting pulverized coal to form flyash, including a fume component formed from organically associated inorganics in the pulverized coal, and combustion off-gases, and a step of injecting a substantially noncombustible, preformed, coarse particulate material into the combustion process.
