ABSTRACT:
A flux-cored wire for arc welding, wherein a specific surface area, which is defined by the equation of {(Sa/Sm)-1} where Sm is an apparent surface area and Sa is a real surface area in a region to be measured on a surface of the wire, is in the range of from 0.005 to 0.035; and molybdenum disulfide is stuck on the surface of the wire in an amount of from 0.004 to 0.24 g/m.sup.2, and no plating is applied on the surface of the wire. Moreover, a solid wire for arc welding wherein the specific surface area {(Sa/Sm)-1} is in the range of from 0.0005 to 0.05; and molybdenum disulfide is stuck on the surface of the wire in an amount of from 0.001 to 0.5 g/m.sup.2, and no plating is applied on the surface of the wire.
