ABSTRACT:
Fluoromethylsulfonyl-substituted pyridylsulfonylureas as herbicides, process for their preparation, and their use.
Compounds of the formula (II) or salts thereof, ##STR1## R.sup.1 is hydrogen, methyl or ethyl, Z is CH or N and one of the radicals X and Y is halogen, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.2)alkyl, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.2)alkoxy, OCHF.sub.2 or CF.sub.3 and the other one of the radicals X and Y is (C.sub.1 -C.sub.2)alkyl, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.2)alkoxy or OCHF.sub.2, are suitable as selective herbicides for use in crops.
They can be prepared by the process as claimed in claim 4, in which, in some cases, intermediates of the formula (III) are employed: ##STR2##
