A fluorescent composition for low velocity electron beam excitation, comprising a phosphor capable of emitting light under excitation by a high velocity electron beam and indium oxide (In.sub.2 O.sub.3) mixed or mutually adhered to each other, wherein the half value width of the strongest diffraction line in the diffraction X-ray spectrum of the indium oxide (In.sub.2 O.sub.3) is within a range of from 0.10.degree. to 0.25.degree..
