ABSTRACT:
Fluorene derivatives represented by the general formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R represents an alkyl group having 1 to 8 carbon atoms, a phenyl group of a C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkyl-substituted phenyl group, and a process for preparation thereof. These fluorene derivatives are synthesized by reacting fluorenone derivatives represented by the general formula (II): ##STR2## wherein R is the same as defined above, with malonitrile.
