ABSTRACT:
The present invention relates to compounds of formula (I) ##STR1## wherein Ar is a fluoranthene or substituted fluoranthene ring system; R.sup.1 is a C.sub.1-3 alkylene moiety; R.sup.2 is hydrogen or a C.sub.1-6 alkyl group; R.sup.3 is a hydroxy C.sub.1-6 alkyl group; R.sup.4 and R.sup.5 are the same or different and are hydrogen, C.sub.1-6 alkyl or hydroxy C.sub.1-6 alkyl, esters thereof derived from condensation of carboxylic acids and hydroxyl groups of R.sup.3, R.sup.4, and R.sup.5 ;
