ABSTRACT:
A piston type fluids mixing and proportioning device has a chamber where the fluid displacing piston is driven during one of its strokes through a fluid drive coupling, which is established in another chamber that has a driven piston element for displacing fluid received in the chamber and which is equipped with a passageway for delivering the coupling forming fluid to and from the chamber. The piston passageway moves relative to intake and discharge passageways for the coupling forming fluid. Both pistons are spring biased for movement during one stroke and the driven piston element is driven during its other stroke by a driven cam mechanism that has a predetermined period of cyclic operation along with components that engage and disengage the element in a manner that permits the piston element to be locked in a fixed position when the fluids in the chambers are being displaced. A compact valve mechanism is also disclosed for opening and closing intake and discharge passageways as well as to open and close outlet passageways from a chamber for mixing the displaced fluids.
