ABSTRACT:
An integrated gasifying apparatus for solid municipal waste, sewage sludge and coal utilizes a fluidized-bed gasifier from which the char enters a low-temperature fluid bed combustor and then a high-temperature fluid bed combuster. CaO is admitted to the gasifier to form part of the bed and calcined lime is carried out of the high temperature combustor. The product gases are separated to recover CO.sub.2 which is recirculated to the gasifier at least in part as a fluidizing gas.
