ABSTRACT:
A fluidized bed heat exchanger having a perforated support plate supporting relatively lightweight absorbent material particles and relatively heavy fuel ash particles includes a drain through which a flow of air defining a separating air screen retains the adsorbent material particles in the bed but allows the fuel ash particles to fall into the drain.
