ABSTRACT:
A fluid pump includes a housing having a passage therethrough with an inlet and an outlet. An impeller is positioned within the housing and includes an impeller axis, an inlet side and an outlet side. The impeller is axially supported only at the outlet side, and is configured to direct fluid at an acute angle relative to the impeller axis. A switched reluctance motor is secured to the housing for rotating the impeller for pumping fluid from the inlet to the outlet.
