ABSTRACT:
A laser having a roughened, catalytic surface to regenerate fluid within the lasing chamber that decomposes during operation of the laser. The roughness of this surface greatly increases its surface area thereby greatly increasing the rate of action of this catalytic surface in regenerating fluid. This structure is particularly useful in producing small, handheld CO.sub.2 lasers.
