ABSTRACT:
A transducer of acoustic energy through seawater couples its active element o an acoustic window using polyalkylene glycol. The particular polyalkylene glycol selected exhibits improved acoustic, chemical, physical, and environmental properties. Two satisfactory liquids marketed under the trade designation's "UCON Transducer Fluid 28" and "UCON Lubricant LB-135" have satisfactory properties for being the coupling medium.
