ABSTRACT:
A hand-held, manually-actuated dispenser for selective discharge of a stored fluid includes a discharge outlet and a reciprocatable actuating member movable between a first position normally closing the outlet and a second position opening the outlet to enable a discharge of stored fluid. The actuating member carries an inadvertent-actuation locking element which is automatically engageable with an inwardly-displaceable portion of the dispenser housing. When an associated closure cap is seated about the discharge end of the dispenser during periods of nonuse of the device, the housing portion is inwardly-displaced by the cap into cooperative engagement with the locking element whereby movement of the actuating member out of its first, outlet-closing position and, accordingly, any release of stored fluid from within the dispenser interior are prevented.
