ABSTRACT:
A fluid cooled brake for a wheel mounted for rotation about a spindle at one end of an axle and including a plurality of annular friction discs mounted within a closed annular chamber between the wheel and the end of the axle. A pump is provided having a suction line to a sump of lubricating fluid within the axle. The pump draws lubricating fluid from the sump and delivers the fluid through a first fluid passage to the chamber to circulate around the friction discs and return through a second fluid passage to the sump.
