ABSTRACT:
Fluid applicating and vehicle washing apparatus and processes are disclosed. In one embodiment, the apparatus includes a plurality of fluid delivery nozzles directed to spray fluid in a clustered pattern in parallel directions toward the vehicle. The nozzles are mounted on a central pipe that is made to rotate about an axis generally parallel to, but at an angle with, the direction of fluid delivery. In a preferred embodiment, the nozzles are zero degree nozzles, mounted on 90.degree. elbows arranged helically on a central pipe. The central pipe is fixed to an extension pipe which has an axis making a fixed angle of 5.degree. to 20.degree. with the axis of the central pipe. The use of a clustered spray of zero degree nozzles is found to produce a synergistic cleaning effect.
