ABSTRACT:
A regenerative process for the desulfurization of gas containing from about 100 ppm to about 30 volume percent sulfur dioxide in which the gas is contacted at from about 15.degree. to 80.degree. C. with an about 0.1 molar to saturated aqueous solution of potassium citrate at a pH of from about 3 to 9 and the contacted solution is then heated to strip sulfur dioxide therefrom.
