ABSTRACT:
A film providing electrostatic shielding comprises a first layer of a carrier material and a second layer of a thermoplastic, polymeric material, both layers being electrically insulative, flexible and transparent, and there further being a plurality of thin, conductive slivers suspended in the second layer. The slivers form an essentially two-dimensional, conductive network which is suspended in the second layer, and may be present in an amount as little as 2 g/m.sup.2. The slivers have a melting temperature greater than the melting temperature of the polymeric material, and the polymeric material has a melting temperature lower than that of the carrier material. The film passes at least 70% of visible light.
