A teflon-bonded thin, flexible .beta."-Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 solid electrolyte parator is provided for use in a high temperature electrochemical cell including a sodium-lead alloy anode (Na.sub.0.9 Pb.sub.0.1) and an FeS.sub.2 cathode.
