ABSTRACT:
A flame-retardant polyamide fiber is prepared and made into a flame-retardant carpet. The polyamide fiber has incorporated therein from 1 to 15 percent by weight of zinc borate and from 1 to 15 percent of an organic halide which is substantially non-reactive with the polyamide except at temperatures above 300.degree. C. The flame-retardant fiber shows improved luster and improved colorfastness to light when dyed.
