ABSTRACT:
A fixing apparatus for electrophotography includes a fixing drum having an infrared radiation heat source in the interior thereof and a backing roller which cooperates with the fixing drum to transport a recording sheet. The fixing drum is made of a transparent material that is permeable to infrared radiation and has an outer coating of a material that absorbs a part of the infrared radiation.
