ABSTRACT:
A fireproof linear aromatic polyester having a high stability to ultraviolet rays and heat contains a unit of the formula: ##STR1## WHEREIN R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are each a straight or branched alkylene group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms and n.sub.1 and n.sub.2 are each an integer of from 1 to 4. The addition of an organic pentavalent phosphorus compound may improve the fireproof properties of products prepared from said polyesters.
