ABSTRACT:
A fire-retarding foam-forming epoxy resin composition is provided and a method for applying the same as a coating on a substrate, said composition comprising essentially an amine-hardened epoxy resin containing 30% to 70% by weight of said amine-hardened epoxy resin of at least two substances selected from the group consisting of more than 20 mol% nitrogen and/or phosphorus having a decomposition temperature ranging from about 100.degree. C to 400.degree. C. The composition may optionally contain fillers which react endothermically at elevated temperatures.
