ABSTRACT:
A filigreed effect name plate is formed on a belt or other leather product. The belt comprises an outer layer attached to one or more other layers. The name plate area is removed from the outer layer prior to attachment to the other layer or layers leaving an opening formed through the outer layer for receiving precut letters, symbols, or other indicia. The precut indicia are inserted in the opening and their back sides bonded to the layer exposed through the opening. In addition, the top and bottom edges of the indicia are bonded to the top and bottom edges of the opening respectively.
