ABSTRACT:
The odor of technical N-alkyl (C.sub.12 -C.sub.22)-1,3-propylene diamines may be improved by treating the diamine with maleic anhydride. The addition of small amounts of urea and/or sugar to the treated N-alkyl-1,3-propylene diamine further improves the fabric softening properties of the diamines and reduces fabric discoloration.
