An f.multidot..theta. lens for an optical scanning system is comprised of four lens elements, arranged in order from the object end to the image end: a first meniscus element of positive power having a concave object side surface, a second element of negative power having a concave object side surface, a third element of positive power having a convex image side surface and a fourth element.
