ABSTRACT:
Polyvalent cations (e.g., U(IV), Fe(III) can be extracted from aqueous solution using novel organophosphorus compounds of the formulas: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are the same or different and are selected from alkyl, alkoxyl, alkylaryl and alkylaryloxyl groups having from 1 to 18 carbon atoms or hydroxyl;
