ABSTRACT:
There are provided extended-wear lenses formed by polymerizing an organosilicon monomer system, at least a portion of which is a hydroxyorganosilicon monomer, a fluoroorgano monomer, a hydrophilic monomer, and a crosslinking agent. A UV-absorbing agent is optionally present. The product is easily machinable to any prescription, permitting continuous wear, with an oxygen permeability in excess of 50.times.10.sup.-11 (cm.sup.2 /sec) (ml O.sub.2 .times.mm Hg).
