ABSTRACT:
An emergency exit lock of vertical rod type has an active case which contains a latch bolt retracting mechanism operable at all times by a panic-bar. A key-controlled cassette mechanism releasably retained in the active case cooperates with the latch bolt retracting mechanism to provide an additional lock operating function. The cassette mechanism may be assembled to provide a latch holdback function, to lock or disable and unlock or enable a manually operated outside operating member, or to unlock or enable an outside operating member normally maintained in locked or disabled condition when the key is removed.
