The pump assembly includes a reciprocable pump means and an actuating means including a reciprocable actuating member in communication with the exhaust gases and drivingly connected to the pump means to reciprocate the same. The actuating means includes a first housing member and a second spring steel housing member which together with the reciprocable actuating member define an air spring for effecting movement of the actuating member through one of its strokes and which together serve to position and biasingly retain the pump means in assembled relation with the actuating means.
