ABSTRACT:
A closure for excavations is provided, which comprises a plate which rests on and is supported by the edges of an excavation site. The upper surface of the plate is substantially flush with the surrounding street surface, and the plate has at least one lift opening. A bale handle is provided, wherein the bale handle is pivotally connected to the plate adjacent to the lift opening so that the bale handle can pivot 360.degree. through the lift opening.
